To Tweet, or not to Tweet…….

So what is a Tweet?  A tweet is a short message, of 140 characters or less, sent over the Twitter network.  It is the Twitter message.  Messages are public unless the person’s Profile is protected.  Easy!  Here are a few more bits of Twitter jargon:-

DM or direct tweet – a private message to you that only you and the sender can see, 140 characters.  You can only DM users who are following you.

RT or retweet – a message that is repeated because someone thinks it particularly good or interesting to the people following them

# hashtags – are used to tag tweets with a theme or event  eg #networking would be used so that everyone knows it’s related to networking and can following the conversations.  This took me ages to understand!
